Christmas in July - Cherry Carroll

Cherry Carroll lives in Kingaroy, Queensland and has just returned to painting after a lapse of about thirty years.

She first began her painting career in 1967 and over the next eight years she studied with various teachers, including Mervyn Moriarty through his then East Aus. Flying Arts School. During this time she was fortunate to be able to attend workshops led by both Merv and the late Clifton Pugh, who was inspirational. She won awards at several exhibitions, working mainly in pastels, oils and charcoal. Pastel always being her first choice.

In 1975 her life became increasingly busy and it is only in the past two years that she has been able to return seriously to her painting. During this time she has exhibited in the South Burnett area and has been successful in several competitions. Her work is perdominately in pastel but she recently has begun to dabble in gouache with some pleasing results.

Cherry has a deep love and respect for nature and a fascination for the dramatic difference that a change of light can bring to a scene. She is motivated by a desire to capture this magical moment and share it with others through her artwork,.

Cherry paints under her Celtic name - Nimue

In this exhibition she covers a wide variety of subjects which she hopes bring pleasure to all.
